Living Wage Policy : The Basics
Published in Paperback by Employment Policies Institute (02 August, 2000)
Author: Employment Policies Institute
Average review score:

biased research and blatant lies
Buy this book only if you want an extremely biased perspective of the living wage movement. The cover looks informative, but don't be fooled. It merely attacks the movement and its supporters without reasonable justification or trustworthy data.

Pmi Book of Project Management Forms
Published in Hardcover by Project Management Institute (April, 1998)
Author: Project Management Institute Staff
Average review score:

Garbage
I purchased this book for my company last year, and I have found very little use for the forms included in this book. It was not what I expected from a book with "PMI" attached to it. The quality of the forms are horrible. This book appears to have been slapped together quickly to make a buck. If you purchase this book beware of the many, many mispellings and typos throughout the forms. It looks like someone stayed up late one night creating some quick Excel docs, saved them to a floppy, placed the hard copies in a binder, and threw out a "for sale" sign to a public eagerly awaiting some form templates. Charging [money] for these unedited and very rough "forms" is a crime.

Proceedings of Second International Symposium on Antennas and Em Theory

Authors: Chinese Institute of Electronics Antenna Society and Zhongguo Dian Zi Xue Hui
Average review score:

Not much of a ballet book
For whatever reason this musky acidic tome was on your list of 100 top ballet books.

I can pretty confidently give it one star for an original approach, but no more.

Project Management Experience and Knowledge Self-Assessment Manual
Published in Spiral-bound by Project Management Institute (March, 2000)
Author: Project Management Institute
Average review score:

Waste of Time
This book is too limited in its scope and assessment criteria. It is very targeted toward the manufacturing and software development industry and those who are in other fields (but who still run projects) will find that their knowledge and experience counts for very little as it is not applicable to the various scenarios and questions.

If your project management experience derives from consolidation/merger projects or platform conversions or anything outside manufacturing widgits or software products, you will find that you will not get anything out of this book that you do not already know.

The Reluctant Dragon: Crisis Cycles in Chinese Foreign Economic Policy (Studies of the East Asian Institute)
Published in Hardcover by University of Washington Press (June, 2002)
Author: Lawrence C. Reardon
Average review score:

Useless, rehash, better info found online
Please do not buy this book. Do an internet search and the data points you seek will be better presented. I considered using this book as a teaching tool at the college level and decided against it.
Often when my fellow professional academics write books they tend to get lost in detail, use a poor narrative voice, and become so impressed with their own ability to think that the book as a whole diminishes in value as it progresses. That is the case here.
All of this information is better found through a simple online search. As an added benefit to online work you'd be able to find original sources.
Clearly this is a case of a teacher out to line his own pockets by forcing his students to buy his work. A practice that in itself should be outlawed. At least this fellow will be able to capitalize on this disgusting gouging of students. I cannot in good faith recommend this text to anyone.

SAS (R) Procedures Guide, Version 6, Third Edition
Published in Paperback by SAS Publishing (September, 1998)
Author: Sas Institute
Average review score:

Change Your Statistical Software
This huge, confusing volume is just one part of the encyclopedia of manuals the SAS Institute wants you to buy before you can use their software. Good luck finding your topic in it! Researchers have put up with this unfriendly system for so long because SAS was a monopoly at first and was the only software to correctly handle incomplete data correctly later. Now there are many more friendly programs with statistical advisor wizards cropping up everywhere. Shop around carefully before you invest in SAS. By the way, I have no financial investments or interests in any software company.
